if you are keen you could make salt beef, but you'd have ot cure it first. otherwise pot roast.

pot roast...

in a saucepan with water, stock, bay leaf, carrots, potatos, turnips. big bits of onion, I use tops of leeks as well, stem of broccoli...

simmer for about 4-5 hours..

then eat.

Use stock left behind to make gravy to go with the beef and use rest to make soup for next day,

Pop it in a roasting tin with some chopped onion and fill with water. Cover and put in the oven.

Use the liquid at the end to make your gravy.

pot roast

In a casserole:

Chop an onion, couple of carrots, a swede and put in enough beef stock and/or red wine to cover the veg. Plonk brisket on top. Salt and pepper. Cover. Cook at Gas 2 for a couple of hours.

Serve with mash and greens.

this thread is spooky, I have just bought brisket today for the first time in years. Am thinking I will stick it in the slow cooker. I seem to recall something about "pressing" brisket? Anyone know?

bumping for any other thoughts....
