I have given up chocolate for lent but am craving something really sweet!! In the freezer I have individual sponge cakes. Could I just pour over some syrup and put it in the oven for a bit? Would it be the same?

no, I think it would go sort of hard & crispy. But I do think that a syrup adaptation of this would work
