Easy recipe for making biscuits or cookies please

Would like easy recipe for making biscuits and cookies, so I can attempt to amek these with my LO.

Have got shape cutters - but none of these come with instructions on how to make and I would love to look like a yummy mummy in the kitchen!

Have a fan oven - so need instructions to be suitable for that! And weight in oz if poss cos my maths ain't that! fab!

Mix 4 1/2 oz butter with 5 1/2 oz of castor sugar and a few drops of vanilla extract until creamy. Beat in 2 egg yolks then add 8 oz plain flour. Mix with hands into dough. I like them sprinkled with sugar and they take about 10 mins at 180 c (normal oven). They hold shape quite well and my ds loves them!

Oooh sound yummy! Is the vanilla extract essential or can I do without?

I'd leave it out if didn't already have some.
