what does it taste like?

That may be the most random question I've ever asked about tea! I'm just curious, never tried it or noticed it before, what's it like?

Ta

It's hideous. It makes me wretch. Revolting stuff. imvho.

However, my dh likes it.

I take green tea tablets instead.

lucysmam · 11/03/2009 10:45

hmmmm, why do you take green tea tablets? I assume from that that it's good for you in some way?

I drink it, 40 a week! Does vary so try a few and also try the ones with jasmine, lemon. I don't drink other tea or coffee and am convinced green tea is why I am generally well, despite a stressful life.

notamumyetbutoneday · 11/03/2009 10:53

ive just started drinking this. It took me about 3 cups to get used to the inital taste and smell (think cross between wet dog and wet grass) but am now finding it quite palatable.

it is supposed to be better for you then regular tea and coffee.

I prefer plain green tea rather than with lemon or other flavourings but again its all down to personal taste so try a few if you can.

i drink it everyday - its good for digestion and has loads of antioxidants. makes me feel better about all the bad stuff I eat and drink!

green tea is fabulous - very refreshing and good for you too - ds loves it and has a vast stash of green and white teas in the cupboard - current favourite is Wu -Xin

It is an aquired taste. I started with teh Twinings flavoured green teas, to break myself in gently.
Then a friend instroduced me to RedBush tea - revolting smell unfortunatley, but supposed to be good for you.

lucysmam · 11/03/2009 21:50

hmm, wet dog & wet grass??!

I think that's enough to convince me to try it, just to find out!!

I find regular green tea quite astringent and don't enjoy it - however I LOVE genmaicha which is green tea mixed with toasted rice (yes, it sounds bizarre ) which has a much toastier, almost popcorn like hint to it. It's my way of getting the goodness of teh green tea in a way I enjoy. Drink about two pots of it a day

lucysmam · 11/03/2009 22:03

that sounds interesting peanut, I like popcorn! Eat it by the bucket load

Can you buy it in the supermarkets? If so, I'll have a look out for some over the weekend

ds had one made from Japanese twigs !

peanutbrittle · 12/03/2009 10:10

have never seen genmaicha in a supermarket - I buy mine either in japan centre (this is the teabag version, I normally buy the loose tea one beacuse I have gorgeous japanese teapot to brew it in but the bags are supposed to be good too according to friend at work) or covent garden tea house

lucysmam · 12/03/2009 10:12

I'll have a look, ta
