Using frozen cookie dough -- defrost first, or cook frozen chunks?

I made a double batch of oatmeal cookie dough and froze it, pressing into it so it should break into neat cubes. I was assuming I could break it apart and cook it from frozen, but thought I should check. Should this work? Anyone tried it? Or would it be better to defrost first?

you can do it from frozen.
well, they do in millies cookies and sainsburys anywayb :D
