High protein lunch ideas

sweetheart · 10/03/2009 14:05

I go to the gym in my lunch hour and the woman keeps trying to sell me high protein shakes to drink after my workout - I figure a high protein lunch would be just as good.

I'm rubbish at food catagories - can anyone recommend me some high protein lunches or just ingredients.
TIA x

Protein is basically your meat/fish/eggs/cheese/soya.

So for lunch you could have:

salads with lots of chicken or beef or tuna in them.

Open sandwiches again with meat or egg or fish.

umm, no more ideas. But there must be more out there.

some lean meat - chicken breast, gammon etc, eggs, nuts, fish. take a chicken salad with you and a handful of nuts or something similar?

I try to have high protein lunches, too.

Grilled chicken or fish

Grilled bacon with poached eggs

Omelette / tortilla / frittata

ok what about spinach salad with chicken, bacon and hazelnuts - would that count? It's a new recipe I've discovered and it's delicious!

Trouble is there are next to no cooking facilities at work - except a totser and microwave - guess I could do scrambled egg on toast....

Yes, the spinach, chicken, bacon salad would count.

Baked potatoes with beans/mince.

I also like to have protein with lunch so tend to eat salads with a portion of lean meat in them or fish etc.

Bananas high carbohydrate, so good for energy but not high protein.

Try beans or sardines or peanut buttter on toast, tortilla wrap filled with chicken and salsa or thai sweet chilli sauce,or tomato and mozarella (heat in microwave to melt). Scrambled egg on toast or with beans. Yoghurt sprinked with nuts and fruit. Italian tomato mozarella and basil salad sprinkled with pine nuts...........mmm
got to go, seem to have developed an appetite.

You were told to eat the banana because something in it stops you feeling stiff after exercise - can't remember what though.
Protein shakes are ti build muscle - and full of crap really.
Add a handfull of nuts to what you already have and you're done.
