Buffet ideas for a party

I'm organising my birthday party and have just had a sample menu for a buffet from the venue. It's lots of sausage roll type food and I wanted something that wasn't down the sausage-roll-route! The lady has asked if I had anything in mind so I was wondering if anyone has any ideas. I don't want it to be too fussy but would like things like cous-cous salad..............and can't think of anything else which is why I thought of MN!!

Ok something a bit different from sausage rolls.

Mixed Pepper and Pineapple Salad
Tomato, Basil and Mozz. Salad
Mini quiche -with assorted fillings (you can go mad with these)
What about Tortilla Chips with toppings, guachamole and sour cream, salsa and grated cheese,
Lettuce cups with fillings - like prawn cocktail and light things
Depending on how much you wanted to spend I've seen a few buffets with 2 or 3 full size cheeses on and some loaves of special bread (tomato, olive etc) and then you let people help themselves.
Little oranges, apples, strawberries, grapes, small bananas are always a hit as people can help themselves and it's never to heavy food wise.
Won tons and similar
Prawns in filo pastry

Try to pick food you like and think about whether it's replacing a meal for everyone or just meant as a snack. Oh and do this on a full stomach or you'll want everything.
I use to be an event manager and choosing the food is always difficult.

Try looking at bbcgoodfood website they might have some ideas that you can use.
Have fun.

Miniature 'proper' food is quite popular these days, isn't?

Mini yorshire puds with roast beef and gravy inside
Mini fish & chips in little paper cones
Mini burgers
...that sort of thing

Or you could have an international theme?

Indian/South east Asian - samosas, pakoras, bhajis, minishashlick-style kebabs

Thai - satay skewers, spring rolls, Thai fish cakes etc

Greek/Turkish/Middle Eastern - grilled halloumi, kebabs, feta cheese pastries, taramasalat/houmous with mini pittas etc
