Worm in my dinner!!!!!

OMG, just eaten tinned salmon sandwiches for dinner and ds2 passed me what he thought was a piece of skin and it was a little curled up worm!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

NOt uncommon, sorry if that just makes it worse. the good news is that it will deffinatly be dead, what with being canned and cooked IYSWIM, and so your ds isn't going to join the children on the 'we have worms' thread!

YUK, that sounds horrid. Are you still going to be able to eat aslmon in the future? Not sure I'd be able to.

Is it from the fish then?!! bleeuuurgh

Oh worms in fish are very common. A mate of mine has stopped eating fish when her sister is around, as sis is a marine bilogist and will identify them as the dinner goes along

And tape worms in fish are buggers to shift in humans. That said if the fish you eat is cooked you should be ok. It is more of a problem if you eat raw fish.

Everything alive carries parasites, even parasites! It is all quite natural, try not to let it gross you out too much!

I had a maggot in a KitKat once. Got a family pack in compensation

Difference there tho is that maggots could only be there if the food hygine was dodgy. If the work was small the processor wouldn't have been able to pick it up. And they are naturaly found in salmon etc. Only way to avoid them would be to worm the fish, prior to killing them, and that would help to muck up the environment...rather like them using lots of other chemicals in fish farms.

Homnestly don't worry about it. Salmon is put into tins raw, sealed and super-heated. It wouldn't do you any harm and will def be dead!

It will have "grown up" eating only salmon anyway, so is just salmon in a different shape really.....

do you find these sort of things in other fish in tins? like tuna/mackeral. This thread has grossed me out a bit. I once ate a piece of brocolli with a curled up (dead) green catapillar on, but spat it out just as I realised. I still eat broccoli now, just double check before and cut it up well. Erghhhhhh!
