Coffee for coffee mornings

I'm new to this and have just invited a load of other mummies round for a coffee morning.

Not being a coffee drinker, I'm not sure what to buy - is instant ok or is it really yucky? If it's ok, are there any brands which are really nice?

I'm ok with the tea-making!!

If you don't drink coffee yourself instant coffe is just fine otherwise you'll be having to fork out for coffee makers etc - TBH if someone os that worried then you probably don't want to get to know them too well they will be a high maintenance friend - enjoy yourself and don't fret about what other people think.

Instant is fine

Just don't buy nescafe

misshardbroom · 06/03/2009 17:20

instant is fine. If you're near Aldi, their Specially Selected Colombian coffee is really good.

Ok thank you. Clutteredup - good point!!

Those one cup coffee filters are very nice. I buy the Tesco own, medium roast pots, they are about £1.40 for 10.

I think you should home-roast your beans, then hand-grind....I agree with Clutterdup, don't make what you wouldn't normally. Relax and chat - coffe mornings are about the chat not the coffee.
Or you could show your fairtrade credentials with your (instant or fresh) coffee choice.

But do get some biscuits!

blametheparents · 06/03/2009 22:08

Definitely biscuits (chocolate)

LGoodLife · 06/03/2009 22:12

What about fig rolls? I like brazil nut cookies too....

berri · 07/03/2009 07:13

Yes the biscuits are the most important bit, agreed! Just wanted to be able to offer something non-minging to the coffee drinkers. All this talk of biccies.....it's too early for one with my tea isn't it??!

Never too early!! I always get in instant as I don't drink coffee - I buy the tiny ones and always get decaf. Do not make your own biscuits - just get some nice ones for the mummies and plain ones for the children.

nannyL · 07/03/2009 10:10

personally i wouldnt buy decaf for a coffee morning as many people dont like it and prefer real coffee, but by all means have some decaf in aswell just in case someone wants it!

also at any coffee mornings i go to i drink tea or squash (as im not a fab of buidlers tea and prefer earl grey!)
