Any ideas how I can make 1 medium gammon steak feed 2 grown ups?

I only bought one, for some unknown reason & my oh wants gammon for tea but I can't think of anything to do with it to make it stretch to feed the 2 of us

Any suggestions?

Chop up and stick it in a risotto?

Serve with 2 fried eggs each and a mountain of chips!

I was going to say make it into a pasta dish, but Mintyy's idea tops that!

Mintyy, yum! Good idea. Will have to be a huge chip mountain though I think to make it stretch that far! Will probably have it with fried eggs though

ommelette?

lucysmam · 06/03/2009 16:27

oooh, that'd be a better idea, with chips then we still have gammon, egg and chips! good idea

I would chop it in half and grill the gammon steak and serve with pasta, pesto, sweetcorn, creame fraiche, cherry tomotas or roasted pepper,

Or with a rissotto on the side and a poached egg

have some salad too! less chips that way. or chop it up (after cooking) and mix with somw cous-cous, and various finely choped veg- take the tops off some peppers( large ones) and de-seed, stuff with the mixture , replace with pepper "lids" and drizzle with olive oil. roast in medium hot oven for about 20-30 minutes and serve with crusty bread and salad! ... easy!

if you dont like cous-cous, you can use bulger wheat ( a bit chewey) or rice instead!

mollyroger · 06/03/2009 16:37

we often have 1 between us , served with brocolli, carrots, leeks in a mustardy cheese sauce and a pile of potato wedges. Trust me, DH is no waif.....

hmmmmmmm . . . .I don't know now!

Likeing yours too molly & Ivy's!

Not too keen on cous-cous, the texture more than anything & no bulgar wheat in the house at the mo but I'll make a note of that in my book to try out, maybe with rice instead
