Help a banoffe pie emergency

I am making banoffee pie. I have heated the condensed milk following the instructions but its not gone toffee colour. What can I do?

Just keep heating it up - if you've opened the can, pour it into a pan and keep cooking it.

If all else fails, Nestle sell a tin of condensed milk that is already caramelised!

Yaah it takes bleeding ages to turn toffee colour..... but keep stirring in case it catches - zee leetle black streaks are not good to look at!!

When i saw the thread title i thought maybe the emergency was that you had too many banoffee pies and were desperate for help in eating them. Oh well, i live in hope....
