Chickpea recipes for 4yo and 1yo

I cooked up 500g of chickpeas. They are great aren't they? Had them with salad and griddled chicken for dinner tonight.Have been eating them for years as they are my favourite pulse.

What the heck can I do with them for the kids apart from humour and general snack food? 1yo is halfway between chunky foods and hand held foods. 4yo will eat ANYTHING.

I make a veggie casserole with leeks, carrots, potatoes, herbs, bit of tom purée etc then chuck in a few handfuls chickpeas at the end.

Chickpea and orange salad: red onion, pieces of orange, chickpeas and vinaigrette

yum yum yum but I don't whizz it as it sticks to bottom when soupy.

I also do veg curry with chickpeas and my 2 like chickpea soup which is quite thick and easy to eat because of the added pasta.

Make a tomato sauce and add some chick peas at the end. Serve with couscous.

Chick pea burgers - mash with fried onion and finely chopped carrot, egg, salt and pepper, herbs maybe.
Shape in to burgers and fry.

You can make great soup with chickpeas - very filling. Thick enough for a 1 yo I think. DH is making a batch for DD tomorrow, so I'm certainly hoping so.

Spice it with cumin seeds and ginger, cooked in melted butter.

Yes, chickpeas are the bomb. Lots of tasty ideas here, thanks

yummy, mid eastern couscous and veg stew. bung into your slow cooker- sweet potato, carrot, cabbage, courgette, any other root veggies, ie-whatever you have in the house, and lots of onions, garlic, whole lemon, paprika and cumin, and leave to boil for hours (i put it in the night before with loads of water). add drained tin of chickpeas abot an hour before serving. Pour the veggies and soup over couscous. kids love it!
