Any good recipes/ ideas for using mung beans?

I saw some in the supermarket the other day and they were my impulse buy! Having trawled through the archives, I've found this:

soak mung beans overnight, drain water away boil for 10min drain fry onion, garlic ginger

serve with rice,they are delicious

Also lots of advice on how to sprout them, which I will do when the weather is warmer.

In the meantime, I'd like some more pointers on good ways to use them. I just soaked and boiled some up plain to get a feel for what they taste like (pretty tasteless, but nice texture).

So, MN lentil weavers, can you help me?

i tend to throw any type of beans in to a chunky veg soup, or make a spicy bean casserole out of them.

I think I started that thread Cies. I still have my mung beans although some have been used but I can't remember what I put them in!

I like the idea of spicy bean casserole (sounds gassy ) and chunky veg soup.

I've also thought of adding some to a sausage casserole too.

The ones I cooked up plain I ended up eating mixed with some bolognaise style mince, which added texture and bulk.

Dahl - you can make it with any bean or lentil. Soak them and cook them first then make your tarka. also try Madhur Jaffrey's eastern vegetable cookbook, (I think its called)
