cake makers, a quick flower paste question if you have a mo :)

Right, I want to make some flowers for a mothers day cake. Just some small ones to sit on top of it, not shaped ones like lilies, or orchids (want to try them but look a bit complicated for a first go) or anything like that.

Would I get away with making them out of sugarpaste since it's really just for practice for our wedding cake? As I don't really have the spare £3.90 to spend on it at the mo
