Any ideas how to decorate (simply) cakes/biscuits with daffodil/welsh dragon?

My 4 yo dd has to bring cakes/biscuits decorated with either a daffodil/welsh dragon to school on Monday to celebrate st david's day. I have no idea how to do this. Does anyone know if there are any shops that sell these decorations or any ideas how to make them simply and quickly ( I have 9 week old dts as well!)

Oh my god as if you need to be baking biscuits with a 4 year old and twins! congrats by the way.

If I were you i would be tempted to buy some biscuits and put them in a container decorated with daffodil paper or ribbon. Or get DD to draw a picture of the dragon or daffodil and use that to decorate it?

I mean to decorate the box not the biscuits...sorry post doesnt make much sense...am totally in awe of anyone in your position thinking of making and hand-decorating biscuits or cakes for school!

Do you have a flower or a dragon cookie cutter?
If you do round biscuits & do an imprint of daff/drag before you bake them that should be fairly simple.
I'm sure someone else will come up with a better idea though.

Cut out a shape of either from paper, put the paper with the whole in it ontop of the biscuit and sprinkle icing sugar over. remove the paper and you should be left with the shape in icing sugar on the biscuit.

just googled sugar daffodils and pretictably, many suppliers are out of stock.

Can you just get some little yellow sugar flowers from somewhere?

MaureenMLove · 26/02/2009 16:08

Well, I would get some yellow ready roll icing and cut out loads of petal shapes, fashion a small trumpet shape and stick it all together on a digestive biscuit, with a blob of icing sugar/water mix.

I was wondering if you could make some tiny biscuits and put them in egg carton daffodils. Hmmm.

How about flower shaped shortbread, made with some yellow food colouring in, then a blob of orange icing in the centre.

Thank you so much for replies. Some good ideas there. I like the icing sugar idea as it's easy but effective! Anyone in Wales know if Tesco do any st david's day cake decorations?
