2 1/2 year old daughter will not feed herself

My daughter is now over 2 1/2 and I still can't get her to self-feed.
She is not a fussy eater as if I feed her she will eat everything. If I don't feed her she eats next to nothing!!
She does not have a lot of snacks between meals and I hate it when every meal becomes a battle ground.
Any ideas of what to do or anyone else's experiences would be appreciated
xx

My son is the same but my husband moans if he does not eat as my son eats everything when I feed him when he has fruit I leave him to feed his self or finger food he will eat some then stop. So I then go and feed him.

I am going through the exact same thing with my 3 1/2 year old daughter. Now that she has started nursery she can not go full time as the teachers don't want to be responsible if she does not eat all day. I've rearrange my whole living room around for her and even ordered a table and chair set to make her a lot more comfortable. It's very stressful as I don't give her any snacks in between but if I spoon feed her she will eat but if I leave the food infront of her she will just stare at it. Not only is the food a problem for me I also have to spoon feed the water. If you or anyone knows what could possible be wrong or any advice would be nice thank you.

Hi all,
I know these posts are from years ago but I’d really appreciate any help here. I can relate to these issues and would like to know how did you get your little ones to eat alone. My girl is 2 years old and she refuses to self feed. I’m tempted to stop feeding her and see how it gets on. Though it’d break my hearts as she eats everything when I feed her. Thank you!

@Vittoria123 you might want to try an @ if you want to get a Poster's attention.

The original Poster's DC will probably be around 17/18 by now though.

If you're struggling you might want to your own thread in the Weaning or Parenting Sections Flowers

2.5 yearcold daughter just babbles but will not speak. Cannot follow simple instructions and will cry/tantrum/grab your hand when she wants something. She will sing songs from Disney movies and that's it. Will she ever speak? We have just started speech therapy but I'm not hopeful
