Do you keep your ketchup and Jif Lemon in the fridge?

Have just noticed on the 2 year out of date bottle of Jif (in the cupboard), it says to keep in the fridge once opened. I remember when I was a kid my mum always kept n the cupboard.

Ketchup also says to keep in the fridge and also says to use within 6 weeks of opening! I keep mine till its used up even if thats a year.

DH says I will get food poisoning Do you think I need to buy new Jif if its best before 2007?

Agree with Bubbaluv - ketchup gets too cold in the fridge! Never use jif. Cut a slice of lemon and keep the rest in the fridge, cut side down on a plate. Also keep jam, honey, chocolate spread, marmalade etc in the cupboard. Refridgerated jam makes your toast too cold!

I keep all pickles, jams and sauces in the cupboard as they are perserves and don't need to be refrigerated.

I am a bit of a bleach-freak...and I am getting the heeby-jeebies about the germs in all your sauce bottles!!!

but the side of me that whispers sense in my ear (that's the one that DOESN'T need to hang the washing on the line in a particular size and colour co-ordinated order or lock and unlock public loos and flush them with a wadge of loo roll in case of germ contact even though I'm going to scrub my hands afterwards anyway!) says lizziemum has a very valid point - about jam anyway...that's the point of preserves!

no I do not keep ketchup in teh fridge.

I do not buy jif lemon.

I used to think jif lemon was jif cleaning fluid and refused to have it on pancakes!
