How would you make the sauce?

White sauce plus what? (just white sauce sounds a bit bland)

When I melt the butter for the sauce I add a chicken stock cube. Works really well.

I've been flicking through recipes mentioning mustard or cheese or nutmeg and there seems sooooo many variations.

I just wondered if there was a consensus.

Or one that's standard.

Ooh, I made a chicken and leek pie tonight as well.

Teaspoon of chicken stock powder, boiling water and a little flour to thicken, blended to a paste with slosh of milk. I topped my pie with filo pastry cause I'm doing Weightwatchers. It was delicious.
