Fresh egg test

I have a dozen eggs, of some doubtful provenance......I can't recall thetest to see if they are still fresh - something to do with water and seeing which end up they float - bit like the 'witch test' iirc.

It should sink in water but the quickest way to tell is to crack one. You will be in no doubt if it's off (just do it outside just in case!)

just tested them - am standing by the water with a pointy finger shouting "Fresh! Fresh! Fresh!"
