I have a recipe for chocolate cake that I want to try. Listed it has both 'plain chocolate' and 'unsweetened chocolate'. Waht is unsweetened chococlate if not plain chocolate and where do I buy it?

Probably the high cocoa solids stuff?

googled it and found this

Thanks - it sounds as if it is the same as plain. I still don't understand why both are listed.

Nor do I understand why I am planning on baking a cake when (a) DS is awake, (b) I'm trying to lose weight and (c) I have a pile of ironing to do.

Unsweetened is 99% cocoa solids and is disgusting to eat 'raw'. good quality plain is a about 70% and is strong but edible. Unsweetened is really uncommon over here.

Thanks Nome - it now makes sense.
