It'll cook, but be REALLY careful it doesn't burn as it's so thin.

What's the recipe?

SybilFaulty · 16/02/2009 16:56

yes but will need seconds only

muggglewump · 16/02/2009 16:56

Yes but it's so thin it will burn quickly.

Was it pancetta cubes you needed?

mileniwmffalcon · 16/02/2009 16:57

would be a waste imho - can you get bacon instead? can put p ham on pizza, or wrap around chicken or salmon to roast, but to use in place of pancetta in the kind of recipes it tends to go in, no , i wouldn't.

Parma ham is so expensive it seems a bit of a waste - if you happen to have bacon use that instead.

muggglewump · 16/02/2009 16:57

Sorry, cross posted with SybilFaulty

It's less salt in taste so you may need to adjust that.

What are you making?

mosschops30 · 16/02/2009 17:13

its only to go in chopped in pasta. I dont like the pancetta cubes, too fatty so I always buy slices.

So will it be ok or not? I have no time to go back to shop to change for bacon

It will be fine.

ChampagneDahling · 16/02/2009 18:45

yeh it will be fine but if you are going to fry it do it real quick....enjoy

hidetheribbons · 17/02/2009 20:53

Tip for next time - you can use streaky bacon in place of pancetta.

motheroftwoboys · 18/02/2009 16:59

Another one for next time - if you have a local Tesco they do brilliant packs of bacon chunks for £1. I use in pasta sauces or quiche. Pre-fry with the onions etc then all the fat will go.
