Substituting curry powder for curry paste

If a recipe asks for 2 tablespoons of (Indian) curry paste and I want to use curry powder instead, any ideas how much I should use and if I need to add anything else as well? I was thinking maybe a mixture of curry powder, tomato puree and vegetable oil but not sure of the quantities, or if this is a good idea or not. Thanks!

It would be fine.Make a pasta and add equivalent amount.
