in the local leisure centre. Not sure of how many sandwiches etc to make. Have any successful party givers got some essential tips to pass on?

I usually go for about two squares/ triangles a head thats one and a bit loafs for 25. Sandwiches freeze and then can be used for school lunches. If you have time you can use a cutter to make them into shapes rather than just square/ triangle. They like to know what they are so if its sliced cheese or thin ham you can leave them open and they're more likely to eat them.

Little sausages also go down well as do chicken nuggets (again all freezable and can go into lunches) Pizza cut into tiny slices is a veggy option

Ideally spread the food around so mix the platters so that children can reach everything infront of them.

I usually go for fruit shoots or those cartons that you punch a straw threw because there's less spillage.

Don't forget matches to light the candles on the cake!

Thank you AA, yes I was thinking of 2 triangles each, especially with other bits and bobs. DH thinks it is not enough but I think his appetite is bigger than a 4 yr old.

MUST remember to buy CANDLES as well as matches!

they eat much less than you think so dont go mad with the food and crisps go down well

I would do

grapes
cucumber/carrot
sausages
breadsticks
crisps
few sandwiches but not many

lots of drinks
