butter in a peanut butter sandwich?

My best mate thinks I'm crazy for using butter in a peanut butter sandwich - I think she's the weirdo and it's way too dry without it ..... who's the (pea)nutter? Me or her?

Her!

MrsMattie · 09/02/2009 15:53

Not in a sandwich, no, but yes if it's on toast. Don't ask me why

WowOoo · 09/02/2009 15:53

Her. But she sounds very healthy and sensible.
Have tried both ways and the butter way is much nicer.

Way too dry without butter - just thinking about it is making my tongue stick to the roof of my mouth.

catinthehat1 · 09/02/2009 15:55

I'll pretend you are posting in AIBU

YABU

She is NBU

flubdub · 09/02/2009 15:56

No butter!!!
Theres no need to put butter on toast/sandwiches that have peanut butter/jam/choc spread on. Extra calories imo. However, if you dont have a wobble on your arse that would make jelly jealous like me then carry on!

Marthasmama · 09/02/2009 15:57

Your friend is clealy mad or maybe she just enjoys having bread welded to the roof of her mouth.

KnickKnack · 09/02/2009 15:58

She is definitely the nutter...dry dry dry

treacletart · 09/02/2009 16:10

Wow! this might be my most contentious thread ever! ....But the votes sway firmly in my favour I reckon

Always butter plus PB. Always.

PortAndLemon · 09/02/2009 16:11

DH is with you, I'm with your friend. We both think the other is crazy too.

midnightexpress · 09/02/2009 16:13

With butter. Though as a teenager, I was firmly of the opinion that margarine was better than butter in the PNB sandwich, on account of its slidyness. I haven't tried it recently, as I never have any margarine.

boogeek · 09/02/2009 16:14

Ooh no! Peanut butter on its own (or with raspberry jam but that is another debate altogether). No butter with peanut butter, chocolate spread, cheese spread or pate. Butter with jam, sesame spread, and banana.

Thunderduck · 09/02/2009 16:19

I agree with your friend, well unless you toast the bread and just put a smear of butter on it.

rookiemater · 09/02/2009 16:21

Yuk, peanut butter & butter would be far too buttery, particularly if it hadn't melted. Mind you I hate butter on my sandwiches anyway and margarine makes me ill.

PestoBlizzardMonster · 09/02/2009 16:25

Bleugh! You cannot be serious. Don't spoil the peanut butter

UKVeggieMum · 09/02/2009 16:27

Butter every time.

PestoBlizzardMonster · 09/02/2009 16:30

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

That is so wrong!

Ivykaty44 · 09/02/2009 22:19

Buttr is put on bread in a sandwhich as a barrier between the filling and the bread - regardless of the filling.

I never eat peanut butter sandwhich , only peanut butter on bread

PrincessButtercup · 09/02/2009 22:21

Yes, yes, yes to butter!

scampadoodle · 09/02/2009 22:24

No no no to butter!

Oh god, just thinking about it makes me heave...

ChampagneDahling · 10/02/2009 12:36

Noooooooo butter, God how many calories do you need................. Better still skip the peanut butter...........
