Difficulty weaning 6 month old

I have a 6 month old dd who I have been trying to wean for the last 3 weeks as she was waking earlier in the morning. I've been trying pear which she has finally taken to and eats 3 ice cubes within 10 minutes. The trouble I'm now having is she will not eat anything else, I've been trying carrots for the last 2 weeks, but she gets upset and sucks her thumb to console herself. I've tried mixing the pear with butternut squash and she's eaten that - can I mix any veg with the pear to see if that will work? I thought that eventually I could increase the number of veg cubes to the pear cubes. It just seems that anything new she won't touch, and the thought of having to take weeks to get her to eat something new every time just makes me very depressed!!
