Can I freeze rice pudding?

Loads of milk to use up. I love rice pudding, my family don't. So i thought make individual ones and freeze for myself. Recipe in good housekeeping says No but has anyone and how do they come out?

I have no idea about rice pudding specifically but I freeze everything if it's not going to be used straight away & haven't had any problems so far

I have done. It's not as good and needs extra milk when thawed IME.

I'm not sure about the rice pudding but you can freeze milk (unless it's in a glass bottle, in which case decant). My mum and dad live in a pretty rural area and always have a stock of milk in the freezer for emergencies, always defrosts absolutely fine.

milk isn't off!
Hmmm not sure now. Anything else I could make with lots of milk and then freeze?

Why not just freeze the milk, leaves your options open as to what you make in the future?

FlyMeToDunoon · 06/02/2009 14:42

Yes I suppose. Just have slight doubt that frozen milk will get used, whereas I know that rice pudding will. Ok off to freeze milk and reduce milk delivery.

If you haven't frozen it yet... I quite often make a large batch of cheese sauce (or just plain white sauce if you want) so that I can whip up a cauliflower cheese/lasagne/something similar. Not that I ever do, I give it to ds with some pasta ham and broccoli. One day I WILL whip up a lasagne!

I have put a one and a half pints rice pudding into the oven which I will eat quite a lot of today and then cold tomorrow. Yes cheese sauce is a good idea! I looked for a container for the milk and didn't have a big tupperware and wasn't confident enough to put it in a bag that I would want to freeze flat.
