Do mince pies go off?

I've just found a box that expired on the 11th Jan but I really fancy them now. I can't see any reason why they wouldn't be fine so if you know of any reason why I shouldn't scoff the lot in the next 10 minutes, with a cup of tea and nice and warm from the microwave and before DH comes home and wants one then speak up asap!

And yes, I was inspired to ask by the Christmas pudding thread

If they smell ok - have a small bite

If they taste ok - eat them

This is assuming they have mincemeat in them as apposed to mince meat

the pastry will probably be soft/stale..and the pastry also has butter it in, yuk at being out of date!

I would probably have a small nibble. If not butter-off then would be probably better if heated.

Oh yuck, forgot about butter in that all butter pastry
