Excess fruit - what to do?

AussieLou · 05/02/2009 10:33

I have about 20 mandarines, 3 oranges, 4 apples and 8 kiwi fruit that I need to do something with as the kids refuse to eat any more fruit. What can I do with it? Jam?
PLease help as the new fruit order arrives today and I hate wasting food.
Thanks

make cake with the apples, (plian old sponge with either apple purree stirred in at end, or just sliced and bakes in sponge.
Kiwi, I'd puree it down, add tiny bit of icing sugar and freeze to use as ice cream topping or ace ice lollies (call it monster snot or something )
manadrins (eat them all myself...[glutton])or juice for lollies
Oranges, make orange cream truffles! [glutton]
Or orange cake....

apple sponge. Didnt think of that.
I have never made crumble before. Does anyone have a easy recipe?

er, I don't do quantities, but, peel, core and chop apples, add some sugar to taste, and some cinnamon, and a little water and simmer. Meanwhile, take couple oz of butter, some plain flour, handful of sugar and run to breadcrumbs. If too dry, ad more butter, if too sticky, add more flour. I like to add some oats for texture. Put on cooled apple and bake in over for around 20-30 mins until hot.

Thanks for that. I will give it a go. Just the weather for it too. I think I may need some icecream to with it though
