I didn't realise Caesar salad had anchovies. Can you make it without?

Kayleigh · 08/04/2005 00:11

etc...etc...etc...

I think I have proved my point now.... I bid you goodnight.

mears, yes you can make it without. But definitely nicer with.

Just had dinner with anorak who said she had never heard of caesar salad with anchovies. Melsy and I tried to tell her that it was very common.
This is me proving a point

Have to agree. The very definition of a Ceasar salad is that it has anchovies in.

The best caesar salad dressing (with anchovies) I have ever tasted was made for me by a canadian friend. They definitely do it better over your side of the world KATG.

Blimey once you get your teeth into something...I can't believe you did an internet search for this in the middle of the night I only said I'd never heard of anchovies in a caeser salad, I never made a big issue of it.

Your 'how salads got their name' link states 'some recipes contain anchovies'. See that? some recipes , so why should it be so fantastic that I'd never come across it? I bet when you googled you put the word 'anchovies' in the search to make sure you got lots of the right answers, eh?

FWIW I like the sound of it both with or without the little critters
