I am cooking a roast (chicken), which will be ready soon. I do not want to waste any of the chicken. We will probably eat most of the meat but there might be some left over. What shall I do with it?

I need to know about things like storing the meat, how long it will last etc.

Also, about making stock. How do you do it? I've read a few ways but don't really understand it. Can someone explain simply for me please.

One more thing..... What do I use stock for. I hate soup, any type, so no soup ideas please.

Last of all: Thank you in advance. I am going to devour my dinner now.

Wrap it well in foil or put it in a plastic container. Should last a few days.

Stock: put all the bones, some carrots, celery, really anything into a pot. Boil it for about 2 hours. Strain off the liquid and save. Works really well to freeze it in ice cube trays!

Use stock as a base for sauces.

MMmm.... pie..... Oh god I'm sounding like Homer Simpson.

Yes chicken pie, maybe with leeks and a bit of bacon too, and a creamy sauce. Nice bit of puff pastry on the top. Mmmmm.......

I've got a roast in the oven too but will deffo use the stock for soup. DS loves it.

I'd add the left over chicken to mushrooms and veg and make a pie. If i can be bothered to make a white sauce i use a tin of campbell condensed mushroom soup thinned.

Use the bones for stock.

Dp threw the chicken away. . He went in to the kitchen and cleaned up after dinner (which is lovely), but he thought the chicken was finished with. It still had meat on it. .
