Leek and potatoe soup?

hOW DO You cook leek and potatoe soup so you are left with nice cubes of potatoe but the leek is all nicely blended?

i either get leek lumps of no potatoe cubes

Blend the mixture in stages so the potatoes have less whizzing.

Take some potatoes out before blending then add back in again
