Maybe use vanilla Angel Delight or Vanilla Custard? Or do you think it means like a cake mix maybe a plan vanilla sponge mix?

oxocube · 25/01/2009 10:33

have just found something in my cupboard which is basically a custard pudding mix - seems to be cornflour, flavourings, sugar. Do you suppose I could try this?

CharleeinChains · 25/01/2009 10:36

eandz · 25/01/2009 10:40

no no no!

jello is not the same thing as custard. no matter what anyone says.

but i suppose you could substitute it. i have a box or two spare if you want me to meet you with it? but i live in north west london.

never heard of pudding mix in a cinnamon roll recipe... and I'm American.. the following recipe is similar to one I have used before.. though I believe I used butter not marg..

Cinnabun Cinnamon Rolls

Ingredients
1 (1/4 ounce) package dry yeast
1 cup warm milk
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/3 cup margarine
1 teaspoon salt
2 eggs
4 cups flour

FILLING
1 cup packed brown sugar
2 1/2 tablespoons cinnamon
1/3 cup margarine, softened

ICING
8 tablespoons margarine
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
1/4 cup cream cheese
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1/8 teaspoon salt

Directions
1For the rolls, dissolve the yeast in the warm milk in a large bowl.

2Add sugar, margarine salt, eggs, and flour, mix well.

3Knead the dough into a large ball, using your hands dusted lightly with flour.
4Put in a bowl, cover and let rise in a warm place about 1 hour or until the dough has doubled in size.

5Roll the dough out on a lightly floured surface, until it is approx 21 inches long by 16 inches wide.

6It should be approx 1/4 thick.

7Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

8To make filling, combine the brown sugar and cinnamon in a bowl.

9Spread the softened margarine over the surface of the dough, then sprinkle the brown sugar and cinnamon evenly over the surface.

10Working carefully, from the long edge, roll the dough down to the bottom edge.
11Cut the dough into 1 3/4 inch slices, and place in a lightly greased baking pan.

12Bake for 10 minutes or until light golden brown.

13While the rolls are baking combine the icing ingredients.

14Beat well with an electric mixer until fluffy.

15When the rolls are done, spread generously with icing.

absoloutly devinely sinful...

Where does it say jello?

eandz · 25/01/2009 10:47

no, jello is just the brand name. it also makes jello, but it makes vanilla and different flavored pudding. like butterscotch, chocolate, vanilla etc.

meridian -- that sounds great! Could you please explain how to roll down the dough for us amateurs please?

Meridian, your recipe is v similar to the one I had but without the pudding mix!! Thanks for posting it. I've never made cinnamon rolls before but an American friend says they are divine - her mum used to make them every Christmas morning. Its the frosting I'm looking forward to most of all

ilovemydog-- LOL I just re-read through it.. Its slightly diffrent then the other one I used.. I'm assuming roll down means roll it up... how could I have missed that when I saved it in my recipe files.. hmmm...

I will just have to have another go at making some then... I miss Cinnabun though..

I loved the sci-fi museum.. I stayed to look around and let DH and DS go up the space needle again.. we go to Seattle again in April... to drive across to my parents in Idaho... its been too long.. I'm homesick for america
