Any tips welcome !

Use paste, definately! You will be totally covered and look like an axe murderer if you use liquid!

ok marvellous - thanks. Just wanted to check it colours it ok (that's in pink so I feel a bit happier about that).

Right, off to do Barbie's skirt....

Paste gives a much nicer, smooth colour, I think. It doesn't make the icing sticky either, like liquid would and you'd end up having to add loads of icing sugar with liquid. Just use the paste tiny bit at a time, until you get the colour you want.

lmao, I used liquid as couldn't afford paste last week. Agree you would look like an axe murderer, my hands are still bright pink!! & the kitchen walls are splashed with various colours too

Oh heavens, never EVER use liquid colouring - it's a nightmare! Paste is by far best option - for some colours liquid might be ok at a push but to get deep colours, or dark colours, you need so much liquid that the icing is impossible to work with. You can get powder colours too, but paste is my fave.

I have learned my lesson Tinkjon, am saving to get some paste colours for SIL's birthday cake so I don't end up looking like a teenager after a pen fight again

Having said that, I ended up with lovely bright pink pigs for my cake & bright yellow bears!

never again though, definately not the sensible option

Thanks all - I used the paste and it worked well. Am surprised how well the cake turned out actually. Hope dd will be pleased with it.
