My ds is 6mo and i just cannot seem to fill him, he is weaned already as he clearly was not satisfied by his milk and has progressed quickly on to 3 meals a day but STILL has 5 8oz bottles a day too. This last week I tried to gradually cut down his milk intake by giving him 7oz instead of 8 but this has only resulted in him screaming as though he were being murdered by the end of the day and grumpy and unsatisfied the rest of the time. I currently give him one annabel karmel cube size meal for lunch and dinner and about half that for bfast, I also give him 2 bottle of the hungrier baby milk a day to no avail. He has also started waking in the night again for a feed. What can I do? How can I fill my little bottomless pit? COuld it be a growth spurt?

At six months old, I don't think milk feeds should be reduced at all. Feed him as much milk as he wants. You can give finger foods too at this age.

keep his milk the same and give him more food if he wants. my DS had 2 AK cubes at that age.. he was a gungry little mite!

Stick with the milk but offer more solids too

I would up the amount of food you give him. Try him with one cube for breakfast and one and a half or two cubes for lunch/tea instead of one and see if that makes any difference.

DS2 at 6 months was very tall and solid and used to eat alot compared to other babies I knew! But it slowed down as he got older and now at 20mo he has started getting fussy and more interested in playing than eating. Also what are you feeding him? He could eat a little meat at 6mo and cheese/cheese sauce added into meals which would fill him up more than if you just gave him veggies. Also porridge for breakfast, DS2 used to love this and it did seem to fill him up with some fruit puree added. Banana's are good and if you cut them right he could have them for a snack as finger food. Also breadsticks, toast etc. Hope this helps.

Thankyou all. I only thought I should cut down the milk intake as heard health visitor telling another mum to do so.. serves me right for being nosey but also thought 35oz a day was a bit excessive coupled with 3 feeds but guess it depends on the baby and mine is def a hungrier one. When should I reduce the milk then? Also is it ok to now introduce pasta etc as things like that may fill him more as the veg purees are, I guess mostly water. So finger food is ok from 6mo? Theres conflicting info on the net....

the 3 meals you are giving are tiny though so they still need the milk for the calories. I didnt cut down my ds's milk, he cut it down himself as his solids intake increased - he was on 5 bottles up till 8 months with 3 meals from around 6 months. At 6 months you could give porridge, weetabix, ready brek, etc for breakfast. Pasta, bread, rice, etc are ok now too as are cheese, yoghurts, meats, etc. I started offering finger foods from 6 months - you could give toast fingers, cooked veg, soft fruit, etc
