But, you know the starter you get at Thai/Chinese restaurants? The stuff with the pancakes to wrap around it?

What is it? I kinda promised my oh I'd make some, but have no idea what it is that I'm meant to be making, just that he would hoover it up by the bucket load if he could

Thank-you

Aromatic crispy duck.

I'm pretty sure they deep fry it in takeaways. But you could roast a couple of legs on a hot temp with some oil and chinese 5 spice rubbed onto the skin.

You can buy the pancakes in asian supermarkets.

The sauces are hoisin / plum

barbiehouse · 20/01/2009 20:42

just buy a pack from the supermarket - make sure you have cucumber and spring onion

lucysmam · 20/01/2009 20:44

If you have an M&S near, their crispy duck with pancakes is loverly. Comes complete with pancakes, cucumber, spring onions and hoisin sauce. Mmmmmm...

BrownSuga · 20/01/2009 20:48

We used to get the Asda packs, they were quite good.

lucysmam · 20/01/2009 20:50

I could never ever ever eat duck...

Until I tried it a few years ago...

Its really really yummy.

lucysmam · 20/01/2009 21:01

purpleduck, I would never have thought it . . . you being a duck n all!

KatyMac · 20/01/2009 21:01

I think you use Hoisin (sp) sauce which has plum in

You marinad the duck in it - then you roast it well

You do the shredding thing with 2 forks

Finely slice cucumber & spring onion & more of the hoisin sauce for the pancakes

Pancakes are fairly hard to do imo

purpleduck · 20/01/2009 21:02

I have been told I'm rather tasty
