What am I going to make DDs for tea tonight before Rainbows? Lacking any inspiration at all!

I've got a fridge and freezer full of food, all the basics, and I can't think of a thing to make for the DDs. It's the only night of the week that we don't all eat the same thing, and it has to be something they can eat quickly before heading out to Rainbows.

DD1 won't eat baked potatoes, anything with cheese sauce or fish. DD2 eats everything.

Please, kind ladies, inspire me!

In our house, this is Beaver Supper. Serves 2.

1 packet microwaveable rice
1 tin sweet corn
1 double handful frozen peas
a few slices of ham and/or some leftover cooked chicken and/or some cooked prawns.

Cook the bits that need to be cooked, chop the things that need to be chopped. Mix together. Serve in a bowl with a spoon.

Tea in 5 minutes. Infinitely adaptable, healthy and I've never met a child that didn't hoover it up!

Ham, egg chips and beans

LOL - our Beaver Supper is remarkably similar to seeker's - substitute pasta for the rice and you're there (varied with tuna if we have no ham/other leftovers). However, it takes place after Beavers since DS goes straight from Tennis to Beavers - with me stuffing a jam sandwich into his hand as we get into the car.

Tortilla pizzas -- tortilla, cover in tomato/veg sauce, add "stuff" (cheese, ham, peppers, tomatoes, whatever you have to hand really). Drizzle tiny bit of olive oil over.

Put on lightly floured baking sheet and cook for 8-10 minutes at 220 degrees C (200 degrees C in a fan oven, gas mark 7). Lightly flour two baking sheets.

Bless you! I shall make a Beaver supper tonight, and tortilla pizzas next week. I just went completely blank this morning

If you add some carrots, and some purple sprouting broccoli and some red peppers it could be Rainbow Supper!

misshardbroom · 20/01/2009 10:11

how old do they have to be for Rainbows? (sorry to go off at a tangent)

babypowder · 20/01/2009 10:28

They have to be 5 for Rainbows, except in NI when they can join after their 4th birthday, I think.

thanks!

We like the tortilla thing but we put a tortilla on top as well, so it is sandwiched. You can put most things in there. We have pizza ones, cheese and bacon, anything that you like really!

misshb - they can start at the beginning of the term in which they turn 5, but there are waiting lists for lots of groups.
