use by date on mustard

Very boring...

Have found a nice easy recipe for a steak sauce. Needs course grain mustard.

Have just looked at the mustard I have and it's use by 08/2008. Would it still be ok to use?

Or do I need to get dh to come home via tesco?

TIA

I would still use it. Has to be over a year out of date or mouldy for me not to use it!

Ok thanks! It looks fine and smells fine.

i'd still use it, prolly add some extra for luck as it loses flavour over time ime.

I'd use it. I'd imagine mustard is one of those natural preservatives that doesn't really go off quickly but just gets less potent.

I'd still use it but then I am somewhat cavalier about use by/best before dates generally.

Recipe says 1tsp, so you think I should throw in a couple to make sure?
