Cake crumbs

A chocolate truffle cake I want to make calls for cake crumbs in the truffle topping. I've never made a cake that needs these before - can I buy them? Or do I make a seperate cake and crumble it up to make crumbs?

I've never heard of this either .

How much do you need? If it's about a slice's worth, I¡d make a separate sponge and eat the rest myself!

Im going to watch this - I have a pannettone left over from ages ago christmas that will not be eaten otherwise. Ill send you some crumbs from that if you send me the recipe that needs them!

anything will do really - you could knock up a quick 1 egg / 2oz of everything sponge, or use a bit of supermarket plain madeira... whichever is going to be quicker.

I always use shop bought trifle sponges crumbled up.

Thanks ladies! Sparkybabe - if you are serious about wanting the recipe, I'll scan it in and email you.
