So, following on from The Great Crumpet Experiment, I was wondering whether anyone had had a go at making English Muffins?

And if so, what tips / advice would you offer / share?
From what I can see, it's quite similar to making crumpets, but you've basically got a firmer dough which you are cutting or shaping the muffins out of.

I'm going to try making some this afternoon, so I'll let anyone interested know how it went. But in the mean time, all thoughts welcome!

i have made them. have you got rings? they are a bit fiddly but extremely delicious.

I've got crumpet rings, which I was going to use to cut them out - do you think that will be ok?
And how firm should the dough be? I'm assuming it's softer than the average bread dough?

what does your recipe say? i pour dough into rings in pan and griddle them. its tricky getting the right heat.
