The title says it all really!

I have about 20 jars of jam left over from a marathon jam making session last summer/autumn. I have just realised that we are only about 5-6 months away from fruit picking time again, and I don't know what to do with so much jam!

Apart from eating masses of toast or making jam tarts.

Ideas please for using it up. I have Strawberry, Raspberry, Blackberry and Apple, Damson and one solitary jar of Blackcurrant, which is dh's favourite and therefore jealously guarded!

girlandboy · 15/01/2009 20:57

Bakewell tart is a good idea, though I'm not sure about lucysmam's suggestion! What are those yummy little tart thingumys with pastry on the bottom, jam in the middle & coconut on the top called?????????

I have no idea! Will have a look . . . hang on a sec will get MIL's bero book out . . . .

They're called maids of honour in there but I've no idea other than that other than they're very yummy

girlandboy · 15/01/2009 21:12

Ah, thanks for that. I will look it up.

Anyone else, or am I destined to spend the next few months eating Bakewell tart and coconut thingys?

how about just not make any more this year and give yourself another year to get through your store?!

Trebuchet · 15/01/2009 21:14

Lucys mam they are my absolute fave, are they a geordie thing...? My mam used to make them but they were just big enough to fit in your mouth whole, so I was a right tubber...

lucysmam · 15/01/2009 21:16

lmao Trebuchet. I don't know as I'm not a geordie myself but they're the best sweet treat going imo! My mam used to make them when we were kids but I always forget coconut to make the top so we just end up with little jam tarts

GandT

I know, I know! But I enjoy taking the dc's to the pick-your-own farm, and we always pick too much to just "eat" it.

And I like making jam.

I could always swap my allegience to chutney, but I've got rather a lot of that as well.

I love fruit picking with the dc's too - I tend to freeze most of it (in a single layer on a tray, then decanted into bags or boxes once frozen). Then you can use the fruit for crumbles, trifles etc etc. I do make some jam too though....

Jam Turnovers!!!

Slap some jam on some pastry and cook. So so so so so good

biscuitsmustbedunkedintea · 16/01/2009 19:17

Doh! Recipe not quite right

Slap a huge dollop of jam on pastry and fold in half and crimp/seal edges together

The messier it looks, the better it tastes

twoluvlykids · 16/01/2009 19:26

send it to me

open a tea shop or b&b and serve it to your visitors

put it outside your house and sell it
