Help me, Scottish MNers!: Stovies

I was reminded by recent reports that Gordon Brown's favourite food is rumbledethumps that one of my preferred childhood foods was Stovies (some smart-arse journalist compared the two and belittled both. Harumph).

Sadly, my mum died when I was 13, and she never showed me how to make them.

17 years is too long to go without Stovies!

Does anyone know how to make them?

TIA!

Do you know what?

My Dad's family originate from Lewis. He told me the other week that one of the butchers was some relation of his Grandmother.

Apparently she said that the black pudding was rubbish and that the butcher should use her recipe instead.

This was 50+ years ago, and it became the famous Stornoway black pudding.

That's the story anyway, not sure if it is true or not.

Now then mawbroon, look at this page and it does say that their recipe is a closely guarded family secret one for 50 years.
You could have become a millionaire.

I'm not Scottish, but I think maybe our school cook was.... we used to have this at school! And with beetroot on the side- very yummy on cold winter snowy days (NW England)
