If you had a savoy cabbage would you

Steam it and then toss in a little butter to serve with baked potatoes and sausages
Stir fry it with garlic and ginger and have it with savoury rice (made with peppers, onion, leftover chicken and chorizo)
Make a savoy and feta risotto (although actually I think I might have used up all the risotto rice)
Any other ideas for me? Those are the only things I can think to do with Savoy cabbage - and I want to cook it tonight.

I would....

fry some bacon and garlic, add the shredded cabbage, put a lid on it until cooked and stir into pasta with butter and parmesan.

(Although your ideas sound pretty darn tasty too.)

Bon appetit!

Great idea, but I used up the bacon last night Dustbuster! Pasta with bacon and tomato sauce - will try it with the cabbage next time though.

I stir fried it with prawns last night - but you could make an Irish dish (colcannon?) where you fry it with onion, bacon bits and ptoatoes

Stir fried with prawns sounds good, have no prawns either but will save the idea for another time - what did you use for flavouring? Would tamarind paste be nice?

Can you tell my New Year's Resolution was to cook nice healthy meals from scratch every night?

1 sounds best, don't think it woudl go with feta personally.

CharleeinChains · 13/01/2009 14:02

I would steam it then toss it in anchovy/garlic and chilli butter and serve with the sausages and spuds. [Charlee salivates]

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 13/01/2009 15:23

Kimchi!

Lionstar · 13/01/2009 15:25

Kimchi , no in fact

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 13/01/2009 15:33

Well, not proper kimchi, more my take on the japanese version of it which is more of a stew and sodding delicious thankyou very much

bellavita · 13/01/2009 15:34

use it with the savoury rice dish - sounds delish.

I haven't got any guinea pigs and the kittens don't like it.
Anyway, am doing the stir fry and next week will get another and do the bacon and pasta thing.
