stupid question about slow cookers!!!

ok, i've had my slow cooker for ages and used it successfully loads of times. well last night i decided to make and enormous pork cassarole (so i can freeze some for later date). filled it almost to the top whereas normally it's only about half full. just wondered, does it take longer to cook the more there is in it?? i put it in at 7pm last night expecting it to be ready by now and the carrotts and potatoes are still hard. normally it's well ready after 10 hours. what have i done wrong???

Is it warm at all?!

If it's for tonight, then it may just be that it needs more cooking.

Otherwise, I'd be tempted to transfer the casserole dish to the oven and cooking it that way.

I think it will cook more slowly if it's fuller than usual. Is it hot? Are the veg all of a similiar size, and are they covered with liquid?

Sounds yum by the way. Hope it cooks properly in the end.

are you sure it's on high, sometimes I flick mine onto keep warm by mistake

yes it's hot but the veg just seems the same as it was last night but the meat is tender and cooked... really not sure what i've done differently, i've used it hundreds if times but like i say never as full, wondering if that's the problem. i'm not in hurry really as it's for tonight so got another 8 hours til we eat it. may do as you say and bung it in the iven if it doesn't start to soften a bit. thanks! xx

it smells delicious though so hope it does cook in the end!!! the onions and cellery are cooked beautifully, just the carrotts and potatoes so wondering if i should maybe have cut them smaller??? all covered with liquid too. just never had a cassarole take so long before.
