Have rather impetuously invited a couple over to eat tomorrow evening.
Am looking forward to it, but am so busy, I only have tomorrow morning to prepare/buy, have to go to work for a few hours, and won't be back in until one and half hours before they arrive (I know)
due to the time restrictions, I can't slave over it for hours, but still want to make a good impact.
It's not going to be formal, but would like to do more than a b owl of past for eg
Help!
TIA

Puff pastry with goats cheese and cherry toms to start

Spaghetti carbonara, chicken in a creamy sauce(stroganoff) and rice

dessert - nigellas cheat choc mousse

Do a Mediterranean tapas-y spread with minimal cooking :

salami, parma ham

chunks of chorizo sizzled quickly in a hot pan

mushrooms sauteed in butter and garlic

almonds toasted in a hot pan with a handful of chili flakes

olives

mozzarella salad

tomato salad with mint and balsamic dressing

warm crusty bread, lots of.

Shop bought houmous drizzled with olive oil and fresh lemon juice.

Soak liberally with enough wine and you can have a relaxed, eat-what-you-like-the-best evening with minimal cooking?

Oh, and just buy an enormous box of rather good chocolates and serve them with espresso in lieu of pud.

Dont fret

Go to M&S and buy something

Put goat's cheese tartlets on a bag of wild rocket with oil and balsamic vinegar - looks homemade!

Pre packed chicken dish with sauce and HM sauteed potatoes and green beans - looks homemade

Bannoffi (sP?) Pie - who cares if it is HM or not?

Nice wine

coffee and chocs

Voila!!!!!!!

I'm in Dubai, I can only get the tinned stuff here!
Great ideas ladies

Do you have to cook at all? I enjoy an evening with friends when we call in a takeaway just as much, its the company that it's all about afterall. Especially mid week.
