fresh or frozen?

chuck it in with peppers, toms, onions, etc for a yummy pasta sauce. (towards end of cooking)

just wash it and shake it, so most of the water comes off, then put in pan, no extra water and it just wilts on a lowish flame. Otherwise you can fry it in a bit of oil.

I wash it, give it a shake and just cook it in the water that's left on the leaves. Then stick in some butter and seasoning.

I wash it,bung as bit of butter in a pan and wilt it down and put a smidgeon of black pepper on it.Yum.

Wash it thoroughly

melt some butter in pan and fry a bit of garlic

Add wet spinach and push it down with a spoon

Put lid on and let it steam in there, every now and then take off lid and shove it round so it all gets cooked

To take it to the next level. Add some double cream and grated parmesan and pepper, let it all bubble for a couple of mins

Yum

It depends what you are cooking it for.

I tend to wilt it in a wok as others have said.

It's delicious raw with olive oil too.

My easiest delicious pasta dish is boil pasta, drain, add spinach leaves ricotta a few chopped sundried tomatoes and salt and pepper.

liahgen · 08/01/2009 20:08

steam it for a minute.

Smithagain · 08/01/2009 20:12

Chuck it into a tomato based pasta sauce at the very last minute, to add smugness-inducing resources of iron

Fry garlic in butter, add wet spinach, toss around to coat in garlicky butter, put pan lid on and steam for a few mins. Mmmmm!

kaiserfootmuff · 08/01/2009 20:19

ooh yum thank you, lots to try out

I love spinach and often eat this v easy dinner:

Boil pasta in a large pan

Drain pasta and return it to the pan

Add some pesto and lemon juice and stir

Add spinach (fresh baby spinach) and stir again.

Put lid back on pan

After a few minutes the spinach will have wilted.

Serve with fresh parmesan and back pepper.

You can also do this with frozen spinach - just add it to the pasta 5 minutes before the end of the coooking time then drain and add the pesto.

Viola a yummy meal with one pan!

Mmmn, Jujumaman, I was about to post the same recipe - the cream and parmesan version is wonderful...

jujumaman · 09/01/2009 13:26

But I forgot - also a squeeze of lemon, even tastier!

jujumaman · 09/01/2009 13:27

Or (on a roLl now)
Cook a bag of spinach as above with garlic

Then add juice of half a lemon and about 50g grated parmesan

Mix with pasta

Add 50g more parmesan

I think I read this is Robert de Niro's favourite meal
