What colour KItchenAid would you like?

When I went to the sales last week all the good stiff was gone, so I came home empty handed. I was baking this morning and had a brainwave - I'll buy a KitchenAid with my sales money

I'll have to save a bit extra, so won't get it for a few weeks, which gives me time to decide what colour to get! Kitchen is cream and stainless steel, so I could just go for the cream one, but I think maybe the red would cheer me up every time I used it!

Here are the colours. Which would you choose?

I have a red one and I love it - so cheerful and friendly looking. My sister has just got a cream one which is great for going with any kitchen but IMO lacking in personality!

brimfull · 04/01/2009 16:01

well I would never be able to decide!!!

red or cream I think

brimfull · 04/01/2009 16:14

have just seen thay are £335 !!!

are they worth it?

if they are may save up for dh's birthday

dooneygirl · 04/01/2009 16:19

Ggirl-I don't know if it is the same, because I'm in America, but try watching Amazon.com. Every now and then, they have great sales on them, and I was able to get one for 1/2 the price of what they are in the shops.

I had a great Christmas, because DH got me the pasta attachment, and MIL got me the slicer/shredder attachment.

ThingOne · 04/01/2009 16:23

I want a red one. I dream of it often.

dietstartstomorrow · 04/01/2009 16:24

I got a KA last year - but the classic in white, which was only £149 on amazon. I use it all the time (so worth it). I made some shortbread about 30 mins ago.

If I could afford the artisan I would go with pink to match my kitchen bits! Yes, my kitchen is girlie!!!

macherie · 04/01/2009 16:36

Yes, I think I'm really leaning towards the red.

I'll have to investigate what comes with it and what you need to buy as an extra.

Which attachments do you use most?

OP posts:
dietstartstomorrow · 04/01/2009 16:41

The red is lovely.... so nigella!

I only use the whisk and the cake attachments.

macherie · 04/01/2009 16:44

I'm a little worried I'll end up with Nigella's figure if I get one, bakeing endless chocolate cakes

I've got the matt grey one - adore it! Especially the dough hook.
If I could choose another, I like pistachio, or red, or boysenberry, or...

pagwatch · 04/01/2009 19:25

My DS2 has gluten and dairy intolerance so I am making cakes and stuff for him all the time. It is brilliant. I got mine for about £250 in a sale at House of Fraser

bollockbrain · 04/01/2009 19:28

what exactly is this sodding 'kitchen aid'? everyone raves about them, and which colour they want, but is there a link {sorry havent read it all through just the title]

then i can see for myself what you re all going on about

dietstartstomorrow · 04/01/2009 19:30

Check out the link. Anyone that loves to bake kinda gets it.

Northernlurker · 04/01/2009 19:35

I like the blue willow myself but then mine is white - classic from Amazon at very cheap price like the poster below and it's beautiful too. Mine talks to me you know - it has an opinion on everything and agrees with me just enough to be supportive. It would never criticise or undermine me and it takes on the fridge for me when it gets uppity.

TheGashlycrumbTinies · 04/01/2009 19:38

I have the charcoal one, tis fab.

mrspink27 · 04/01/2009 19:45

DH and Mum bought me one for Christmas as I have coveted one for more years than some... its beautiful and red... I heart my kitchen aid!

bollockbrain · 04/01/2009 19:46

right, i have studied the said item for several minutes, and although it looks marvellous, it does not seem to be anything more than my mums kenwood chef (the original ones that most mums had a few years ago) So based on that info, i would say it is alot of money for a product you could get much cheaper

lucykate · 04/01/2009 19:50

i'd go for red, couldn't afford a kitchen aid, so i have this instead, got it off ebay for a fraction of the price.

fishie · 04/01/2009 19:53

i'd get a red one. have got a cream bowl-lift (the catering type one rather than the head-tilt one on this thread). i use it mainly for kneading dough although i do have some gadgets. i'd like a pasta accessory but never use the chopping ones, have a little food processor for that.

ThePellyandMe · 04/01/2009 19:53

I have a black one. I adore it. Its great for making bread and when I'm off baking a bit, its still lovely to stroke

Red is very nice.

delightedoldbag34 · 04/01/2009 20:02

I've got a red one. My DH got it for me for Christmas (a big surprise as I've wanted one for YEARS!)....... it looks fab in my black and white kitchen. Delicious.

RnB · 04/01/2009 20:04

definitely the black

hotbot · 04/01/2009 20:11

i got a yellow one yearsago, not my 1st choice of colour but at the time it was75.00 chePER THAN THE OTHER - I LOVE IT ITS BRIGHT AND CHEERFUL -and how have i managed to yell?/

Katerina75 · 04/01/2009 20:14

Would probably get the cream as it would go with everything but I would be tempted by the red as it is a lovely colour.

ohdearwhatamess · 04/01/2009 20:34

If I was getting one now I'd probably go with red - looks striking, and would match lots of other red things we have.

Actually have one that is about 5 years old in navy blue (doesn't seem to be available now). Gift from dh who chose the colour.
