i know your busy but how much water in a slow cooker for a gammonjoint.....

i was thinking of cooking it in pear cider good no goood? But how much liquid do i put in does it need to cover the joint? And how long? Was thinkinh 8 hours over night on low?

I did the ham and coke recipe last week and covered the joint. I think (and am so not an expert having done it all of once !) that 8 hours on low overnight would be fine.
