Am always on the lookout for recipes, anything from family meals to spicy saturday night suppers. Please inspire me with your favourite recipes that you use over and over again.

This is hardly ground-breaking stuff, but my best ever invention was this soup. My children tend to be a bit unadventurous and wouldn't eat any soup other than Heinz cream of tomato. This has replaced it in their affections, and they guzzle bowlfuls of the stuff.

Basic recipe:

1 onion, chopped
1 tin tomatoes
1 handful red lentils
1 tin's worth of water (I refill the empty tomato tin)
1 veg or chicken stock cube

Soften the onion in a splash of oil over a low heat, until it's translucent. Stir through the lentils so they're all well-slicked with oil & onion. Add tomatoes and water, bring to the boil and simmer gently with a lid on for at least half an hour (but really, the longer and slower the better). Whizz it in the blender so it's totally smooth. Adjust seasoning if you want, add more water if you want, add any herbs or even a swirl of pesto, or cream.

oh, and should have said that the basic quantities can be multiplied up as required - this quantity serves 2 very hungry children.

My Sausage Casserole

This is my all time favourite recipe. I read it in a Sunday paper about 10 years ago and we still have it once a fortnight.

Nigella's chocolate Guinness cake is my favourite recipe, though hardly a family meal!

Her veggie chilli is a v good family recipe.
