My mum had a cookbook with a black cover when I was little... any idea what it was?

I know that's a little vague...

I have no idea how old (older than me!) I remember the cover being plain (may have had a dustjacket but no idea) lots of photos I think some may have been colour. perhaps A4 size. Pretty thick. She swore by it!

Its a compedium, so all parts in one book

ahhh lol

I've just had a nose on ebay. I'm certainit's one of those now. Can't believe it they're £15 up.

Will have to try and save up and get one. My mum died last august but I think I've been in denial and it's only hit me recently. And that cookbook was one of the many things of hers I threw away in the hopes of avoiding dealing with it

Ha! Should have checked thread BEFORE poncing with pics! There's one on me profile now lunavix. Please look at it - I hoovered the bathroom floor before taking it, specially!

That's the wooden bath pannel Twinset! It's been highly glossed by DH within the last month!

Pass on my compliments to dh then!

Ooh, my mum's got that one! And a matching red one that's the Good Housekeeping book of Top Tips (or something like that - how vinegar will clean your taps and whathaveyou) that she was given as a wedding present. I have told her I want them when she goes. Fab colour plates, esp. the cake section - they look so inedible compared with modern cakes!

doodle - I'm still not sure about spines but from front covers I'm positive it's either that book or very similar. Gutted I binned it.

lunavix - don't beat yourself up. Perhaps you needed to let the book go then and it will mean all the more when you get another copy - iyswim? Sorry to read about your mum - it's a tough time of year to be dealing with loss isn't it?

lunavix · 29/12/2008 22:51

Thank NL, yeah it's only just started to hit me. Been a year and 4 months, and I very much brushed it under the carpet. It's only now that I'm having to deal with financial side that I'm facing it.

Will look up another copy when I'm able. Thank you so much everyone for your help.

New pic of an inside page on my profile!

Was there anything in the book that your mum made that you 'specially liked? I can scan and email if you like? Maybe as a short term measure until you can save up and buy a copy?
