any different to the fresh ones as they must have been frozen when they were very fresh?

Are a lot cheaper than fresh ones and wasn't much choice at tesco earlier so was wondering about the frozen ones.

water content is an issue,I believe

If you fancy getting a frozen bird, the Grauniad were rhapsodising over the Lidl frozen goose for £19.99.

I don't like frozen white meat, full stop but....

am a butcher's daughter and let me tell you this . We used to buy in frozen turkeys because they were a lot cheaper and then we'd thaw them out. Come time to sell them, we'd put a cloth into boiling water, wring it out and then lay it over the bird's back. It makes the skin go all white and makes the turkey look like a fresh one not a frozen one.

How many punters came in after Christmas and said "You can't beat a fresh bird - so much better than frozen. It was bootiful!"?

So I'm guessing there's not a lot to tell the difference, if truth be told!

Ah, I was wondering this as well. Went to Lidl to get their turkey crown - recommended in a paper on saturday, but they had all sold out.....looked at the frozen ones...and wondered.
Is it salty water they put into the flesh?

I've had frozen .. i've had fresh from a butcher which cost a lot lot more.. tbh I couldn't have told the difference in a taste test.
Now I have home reared and i can taste the difference!

Home reared - if only we had the space...would love that, but not sure I could kill the turkey!!
